POWHer of WE expands to Northern Nevada to support Female Entrepreneurs and Business Owners. Reno chapter becomes the first addition to the Las Vegas professional women's group.
LAS VEGAS – On International Women’s Day, and in step with Women’s History Month, Las Vegas-based POWHer of WE announces its expansion to Reno, Nevada. The female entrepreneur and business owner membership community of success-minded women will become a statewide initiative with the creation of its first sister chapter.
Founded in 2017 in Las Vegas, POWHer of WE empowers women in business by providing a nurturing environment for honest, results-based communication, practical business, and professional development education, mentoring and support, and authentic connections leading to meaningful and profitable collaborations.
Its founders wanted to create a place where successful businesswomen have each other’s back. For the last four years they have been providing access to information, education, resources, and connections for women business owners including: monthly educational and information-rich breakfast meetings, workshops that enhance personal excellence and business mastery, exclusive events for productive networking safe spaces to share and grow.
The founders themselves bring a depth of business experience, a springboard to creating exceptional programs and resources to its members. Co-Founder Monica Coburn is a Southern Nevada 20-year commercial banking and lending professional and owner of Nevada Business Advisors, a full-service business advisory firm for new and existing companies. Co-Founders Lanetta Lillis and Sharon Spann formerly served as mentors to the Clark County Small Business Opportunity Program and continue to support their clients with business strategy consulting, strategy implementation, and business process improvement.
"Empowering women in business and fostering a community of like minded women is part of our mission,” said Monica Coburn Co-Founder of POWHer of WE. “Expanding into Reno was a natural fit and we felt there was a need for what POWHer of WE is and provides to women entrepreneurs. Northern Nevada is a diverse marketplace and being able to engage and support women from various industries is why we chose Reno to expand."
The inaugural Reno Chapter Director will be Marcie Walker. Ms. Walker owns Marcie Walker, LLC, a coaching firm with a unique holistic approach to leadership development, employee burnout, and culture.
"When I found POWHer of WE, I felt like I found a tribe of women business owners that would help me grow and develop as an entrepreneur, friend and woman,” said Walker. “I was really missing a group of like minded, supportive and successful women business owners. I believe that magic happens when women gather, connect, and share their experiences. And as a native Northern Nevadan woman, I’m looking forward to growing and supporting the women business owners in our community."
